I'm positive I won't make any friends with this position I have on this topic, and I might even lose a few, but I never stray very far from my own beliefs. I can assume I will cross some fine line in the sands of many people's own opinions on the topic, but still I will cross those sand lines, and I will not tip toe!

Why are we always as a country the one to bail out all other countries? Are so fortunate that we can afford another unpaid bill?

The disaster is horrible. It's saddening and sickening to see these people suffer. I even wish I could afford to send $10 their way to support the efforts of saving lives. I've seen the suffering children, and as a parent it hurts to look at these little fragile bodies and pay television screen witness to any child suffering. I wish to see this disaster find closure and for the people there to find relief.

Knowing Obama just promised 100 Million dollars to aid their relief sends some hope to their country I'm sure, or at the least I would think it does. Knowing we are sending in the military to help ease uprisings and civil unrest is a relief to some extent is going to be helpful, right? I'm sure our people will be there for a long time to come, and there will be much suffering to come and more lives lost before Haiti sees any light at the end of this disaster.

How far are we going to go though?

How deeply rooted are we going to pledge our country to aiding the relief of this island of disaster?
Are we not right now, in our own country, dealing with our own disaster of economic proportions?
Why is our country going to step up further then what we are capable of, while there are another dozen countries capable of doing the same? When a country in this world finds itself in a disaster, America always steps up, and they always look to us for help. Not only do we bail out corporations in our own borders, but we always bail out 3rd world lands that suffer all the time. Aids in Africa, Tsunamis and Earth Quakes, we are the world's biggest charity organization, basically, and in many ways it's good, but here right now, I need to question the resolve of our commitment.

I think what we have done is enough. We have troops there, as well as what they have of their own. The UN is there and UN troops, and more countries pour in daily to help. Can we not, right now stand back and say, we are here, we are helping, now lets hope for the best? I don't see what else we need to do. I don't think we could or even should become any further obligated than we are at this time.

I'm not someone to turn a blind eye to suffering, but I think we have committed enough resources and energy as it is, maybe enough is enough? Do we not have a war we are dealing with too? Do we not have a economic crisis on our own hands at the moment?

Times are tough right now for most of us here in America, and I fear we will over step our abilities and further weaken our basic foundation of small, yet much needed stability! I don't think now is the time for America to extend ourselves beyond our means. We are there, we are supportive and willing, how much more is needed. Are there not other countries available to do our "job" for once?

Hearing today that Obama just called in Bill Clinton and George Bush to seek further ideas from them as to how to help Haiti further makes me question our real need to be there. I know for a long time Haiti has been a land of very cheap labor for Nike and other textile companies of America, believe it or not your socks on your feet were most likely made there, up until now. Are we there to rescue the people or the labor costs of some of our larger textile manufacturers? Are we there to secure Haiti for it's own betterment, or for our own?

We have to question our real obligations to Haiti. Is it Humanitarian relief or just for securing our corporate conglomerates source of cheap labor, where minimal wage is just under 1$ a day for more than 90% of the country? Where a major portion of t-shirts, shoes and clothing is made or embroidered though cheap labor, which now is in a disaster state, are we there for Haiti's people, or for corporate obligations. what is our real commitment?

Right now our country needs the work, and it would be a shame to know that all of this is in the effort to get this island of cheap labor, that has been back stabbing our work force for many years, back on it's feet as quickly as possible, before Americans might be "forced" to work for these companies again?

When Katrina hit the coast line of Southern Louisiana, there wasn't much help pouring in from outside of America, but now I see a small Island being dived into like as if there is something greater at stake then Humanitarian aid.

At a time in America where we are ourselves fighting day to day, do we have the ability to extend out our hands while we are running on fumes? I'm sorry to speak up, but I question our interests. I question our true reasoning to be so eager to launch a all out endeavor without taking the time to secure our own situation. America the great is now running a close 2nd to 3rd place in the dollar exchange, with China Yen and the British Euro pushing us back. Are we really this strong? Are we really this able, or are we sorting the problem out to keep corporations from having to resort to our labor?

God help those who are there, god save the children and the weak. God, help America as well.....help us gain the strength to be the savor, if that is what we are, god help us if we are there because we have ulterior motives!
